Death of my Dog Sandy

July 24th 2008 is one of th saddest day in my life. My dog Sandy passed away due to illness @ 7.56 PM. She was very dear and near to me. The event unfolded with a phone call @ 4.30 PM from the pet sitter saying that my dog was acting distressed and in lot of pain. In the mean time I also scheduled a ultrasound next day @ 2 PM. So i rushed from Washington DC @ to Woods Town NJ to pick up my dog 10 PM. On the way to my home in Delaware I picked up some chicken pieces and gave them to her as she has to be with empty stomach for 12 hours. She ate that very well. Then the next morning I went to temple to pray for her well being. Came home @ 1 PM and took for a small walk so she can relieve her self. Then took her to the doctors office @ 1.45. As soon as she entered the doctors office she saw some kids. She became very happy and started wagging her tail. The two kids were petting her and she was very happy. I filled the required paper work and dropped her for the examination. Then I went to the nearby grocery store pick up some chicken to give her once I take her home. Came to the doctors office @ 4.30 PM to pick her up. The doctor told me she was very agitated and was not co-operating with them. They wanted my approval to give sedation. So I agreed, I was able to hear the dog barking. It was a sad feeling for me but I had to get the examination done. So I went home and cooked the chicken and hoping she will eat very well. The I got a call @ 7.30 asking me to come to pick her up. The doctor took me into a room and told me that she has a lump near her spleen and her small intestine has been joined in two places. There is no blood flow in the in some places of the intestine. She also told me that she has inflammation in her stomach. The only option is to operate and fix her but the intestine will join again. Plus here protein level is half the level what we need to operate. Which means she will not recover from the surgery. She told me only option is either do the operation which will not be successful or put her down.

I decided to put her down as I did not want to put her to more pain she needed. They brought my do into my room . I cried and kissed her good bye. They told me she will go to sleep and die piece fully. I was not able to control my sorrow. I cried all the way home. I went home and put her picture on a table and lighted a candle and prayed for her. Hope she in a haven in bliss. She will be my guiding angel.

Reiki for pets

Reiki for pets:
By www.localpethosts.com

Pets can have physical problems and emotional problems. The emotional problems could be due to separation. Giving a pet home rather than pet care is becoming popular
( www.localpethosts.com) . Most of the physical problems manifest as pain and suffering for the animal. There is also belief that pain of the pet owner could also manifest in the pet. Traditional treatment of the pet health problems are good as they bring the symptoms under control quickly. But long term treatment and managing the problem need alternative treatments.

There are lot of alternative therapies available. One such technique is Reiki Healing technique. Because reiki is healing energy, it will never harm you or your pet. It can be given to any type of animal. If your pet has emotional problems due to a traumatic situation such as abuse, neglect, or being hit by a car, reiki can help release and heal those emotions. For behavioral issues such as nervousness or hyperactivity, reiki can help your pet relax and reduce their stress and anxiety. If your pet is sick or injured, reiki can help your pet heal more quickly. If your pet is facing a serious illness, reiki can help bring comfort and be a great compliment to conventional treatment. If your beloved pet is dying, reiki for animals can help bring peace and comfort to you and your pet during this difficult time. It really seems to help them relax so they are not afraid and struggling to stay a part of our live.

Reiki can be learned in one weekend. You can start using Reiki as self treatment or treat animals. There are also county colleges offering courses on Reiki. Hope you can try and have good success.

Reiki in Hospitals

Reiki in Hospitals: There are now thousands of individuals as well as some organizations who are providing Reiki treatments to patients in hospitals or prior to their hospital admission. Some hospital practitioners have done an exceptional job and have worked closely with the hospital administration to create protocols, guidelines, and ethics that allow Reiki to be practiced in a way where the hospital, the practitioners, and the patients are all happy. Many health practitioners come to the wellness center for attunements so that they may use this modality to help others. Below are just a few of the Hospitals across the countries that are incorporating Reiki as part of their patient services.
Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York
Marin General Hospital, Marin County, California

More about Reiki

REIKI ATTUNEMENTSWhen a reiki master gives the attunement, then the practitioner has the ability to channel the reiki. Each attunement turns the practitioner to a higher frequency. There are four levels of Reiki, and three levels of energy. These are Reiki 1, Reiki 2, Master and Teacher. When attuned to Master, then attunements can be given to a student. The attunement involves master and student aligning their intention to receive Reiki. Once attuned, you have it for the rest of your life. Reiki is available to everyone!
REIKI HAS NO LIMITS!When you decide to look for a practitioner, be certain to ask questions of them relative to their training. Only those who have actually investing themselves in the attunement and training process can administer true Reiki!

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is, in its simplest translation, universal life energy. It is the life force that exists in all things. The practice of Reiki is the art and science of channeling this universal life energy, or force, to promote spiritual, mental and physical well being. As Reiki involves directing the natural flow of universal energy, it can best be compared to recharging a battery. When a battery’s energy supply is low, it doesn’t function well. By introducing a charge to it, it can once again run on its own. Reiki works much the same way. If you are in pain, whether it be physical, mental or spiritual, your energy supply is lessened. Reiki works to assist you in bringing your energy level back up to its natural flow, enhancing your own natural healing powers. The Reiki practitioner does not suffer from energy depletion, as they are trained to channel energy from the outside environment, not from their personal supply.Reiki was re-discovered in the 1900’s by Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki is an age old method of healing. Upon searching the world over, Dr. Usui found, in ancient writings in Tibet, the keys to healing with touch, as well as the precise information for applying them.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION?Reiki energy is a unique non-evasive, highly effective hands-on natural healing technique. It is channeled through the practitioner who has received the attunements. The receiver lies fully clothed on a comfortable table. Energy is channeled and flows to the area of need. Clients may feel a tingling sensation, heat, or waves of energy running through their bodies. Clients often get a feeling of well being after a reiki session. A treatment if conducted through a series of carefully orchestrated touch patterns, and lasts about an hour. The amount of energy transferred depends on the client’s needs and willingness to use it. Reiki is not related to any religious belief, but is purely a channeling of energy of the universe

News Journal Article

The News Journal/BOB HERBERT

Krissy Deskiewicz works on client Cindy Atkinson, of Smyrna, during a recent reiki session.
Smyrna's Krissy Deskiewicz was trying to kill time at a holistic fair when she found something she didn't know she was looking for.
She doesn't remember feeling particularly stressed when she approached a booth where a reiki master was practicing his craft. After a 10-minute treatment, she felt something new had come into her life.
"I couldn't believe the profound feeling. I felt like I had let something go; I released something that had been bothering me," said Deskiewicz
Now she's determined to bring the same feeling to midstate residents.
Reiki is a relaxation technique that helps adjust a person's energy flow, according to those who practice it, like Deskiewicz. It works by the laying of hands over the head, eyes, ears ... "down the line of chakras," said Deskiewicz, who owns Curves in Smyrna and has a nutritionist certification from American Fitness Professionals and Associates.
Reiki practitioners believe chakras, or energy centers, found along the spine, have to be aligned so that an organism and its energy can work properly.
Deskiewicz, who's been on a quest to bring peace and wellness to the midstate region, said she's seen doctors, retirees, day care workers and administrators in recent months, paying a visit to try out the treatment.
"It's been amazing what it's done for people," she said.
What can you expect if you stop in to get your chakras aligned?
This is how Deskiewicz describes the experience:
Though some think reiki is a type of massage, the treatment actually begins with breathing exercises to calm the mind and body. The client lies face up and concentrates on that particular moment in time and is asked not to think about work, or home, or anything else. Deskiewicz then lays her hands over the chakras (they include the forehead, eyes, ears, shoulders, throat, heart, and down the base of the spine). She also focuses on the soles of the foot and once all of that is aligned, she gently and slowly brings the person back to the sitting position.
Reiki is the latest of Deskiewicz's finds in seekings ways to bring health and peace to a region in transition.
"With growth around here, we're going to need it," she said.
But she's never turned away a client who couldn't afford the treatment because she believes that reiki is a calling, something to be shared with the world.
"I just have such a deep desire to reach out to as many in the community as possible," she said.

How much does it cost: It's $40 for a 30-minute session or $65 for an hour. Deskiewicz said she doesn't deny treatment to those who can't afford it. In the past, clients have exchanged candles, wine and one of them even exchanged a four-leafclover, which she has framed and keeps in the room where she provides treatments.
"I feel this sacred art should not have any boundaries," Deskiewicz said.

Reiki for Better Life

Reiki studies are currently being conducted to show the efficacy of Reiki in not only relieving stress, but also treating pain and many other ailments, especially when used in conjunction with Western based therapies. Reiki can be easily and safely integrated with allopathic approaches. Reiki accesses the body's endocrine system through chakras, the body's energy centers located along the spine which connects all organs and systems, that correlates with a person's emotional and physical well-being

Reiki is a natural method of energy balancing for the purpose of stress reduction and relaxation. It can involve "the laying on of hands" although this is not required for Reiki to be effective.

Scientific Research
Using Reiki to Manage Pain: a Preliminary Report
alta.karino@cancerboard.ab.ca
Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton, USA
Published in Cancer Prev Control 1997;1(2):108-13
Purpose: To explore the usefulness of Reiki as an alternative to opioid therapy in the management of pain. This was a pilot study.
Procedure: 20 volunteers experienced pain at 55 sites for a variety of reasons, including cancer. A Level 2 practitioner provided all Reiki treatments. Pain was measured using both a visual analogue scale (VAS) and a Likert scale immediately before and after each Reiki treatment.
Findings: Both the instruments showed a highly significant (p < 0.0001) reduction in pain following the Reiki treatments.
